Eclipse

This was taken yesterday, August 21, during a clear spell around 2:30 PM. Here in CT the eclipse was only partial. The weather was partly cloudy and hazy, but there were ample opportunities to view the event. I used a 150mm reflecting telescope with a 25mm eyepiece. I projected the image on to a white piece of paper.

You did it in a very precise way. That resulted in an accurate image of the eclipse.

According to Herodotus, the Greek philosopher and astronomer Thales predicted a solar eclipse. However, this claim has been disputed.

I doubt calculations were precise enough back then, though I do recall a story about two ancient Chinese astronomers who "neglected their work" and failed to predict an eclipse. They were drunk and were executed.
