Good Cartoon

It's always good to see UFO skeptics satirized. Many people won't accept the reality of visitors no matter what evidence is presented. They would doubt the evidence of their own eyes. While arguing with a skeptic, the late John Mack told him that if a UFO landed right in front of him and an alien walked out he still wouldn't believe it. The guy thought about it a minute and then admitted he wouldn't. Stan Friedman bemoaned the same attitude. "Don't bother me with the facts" they say, "my mind is made up." Unreasonable, stubborn people deserve ridicule.

By the way, the cartoon does not necessarily exaggerate the conspicuousness or impact of the phenomenon. Mass attacks have occurred at Colares (1977) Baridiame (1980) and Lucknow (2002).

Long ago, the physicist Max Planck noted that a new scientific idea does not win out by convincing its opponets and making them see the light. A new generation grows up that is used to it. That applies to UFOlogy. The cartoon mirrors society's changing attitude toward the phenomenon.

Maybe I'll make a similar comparison switching it around. All the while we alerted the climate change skeptics with climatic disasters around the world and correlated to the melting of polar and Himalayan ices. But it's no use as I found out over the years the skeptics just won't be swayed even their houses got drowned out by floodwaters

The skeptics make ridiculous arguments. They are in the same category as the flat earth people. Some have tried to say that no other stars besides our sun have planets. That silly argument has been refuted. The Hubble telescope has been spotting numerous exoplanets. One person said that radio astronomers should quit sending signals. He stated that we should not let extraterrestrials know we are here. His statements are quite childish. Extraterrestrials have known about us for quite a while.

You're absolutely right Neal. ETs have long been aware of our existence.
Good to see you hear Martin. :) I think one reason skeptics are so stubborn is fear of the consequences of truth. If ET is real that would greatly alter current current society and ideologies. If climate change is real and anthropogenic, it would require unpopular sacrifices like less driving and consumption, to reduce greenhouse emissions.
