Marcel's "Journal"

In a blog post of July 8, 2018, Kevin Randle announced he had received emails from "several colleagues" about the discovery of writings from Major Marcel of Roswell fame. The "colleagues" were not identified, nor did Randle say how they learned about this discovery before he did. But according to Randle, Jesse Marcel III, the grandson of Marcel sr, and son of Marcel jr, had found a "treasure trove" of old documents relating to his grandfather's military service. The most important of these is a journal Marcel had written. To some, it offered hope that documentation of the Roswell case had finally been found.
But there are serious problems with this "discovery." First, it's just the latest example of evidence not coming to light for a suspiciously long time after its supposed creation. As one commentator pointed out, it's hard to believe that Marcel jr, the father of Marcel III, failed to find this documentation decades ago. In response to this criticism, Randle mentioned he had discovered letters from his father unknown since WWII. But that was different. His father was not famous. Considering the far greater interest in Marcel, everything he had would've been thoroughly searched long ago, for clues to Roswell. How could a "a treasure trove" be overlooked for thirty years after Marcel's death? The claim is not credible.
Another problem is lack of access to the evidence. For over a year after the announcement, absolutely nothing of the putative journal or other documentation has been revealed publicly. That is very suspicious, and almost certainly indicates a hoax.
In the past, researchers unmasked various hoaxes such as the "Eisenhower Briefing Document"(EBD). Investigation of the paper and typewriter used, signatures, format and usage showed they weren't genuine. Hoaxers must've concluded that since it was nearly impossible to find paper and a typewriter etc as old as 1947, there was little point in producing anything open to scrutiny. It would be better to just announce a discovery without revealing anything, and this is what seems to have happened.
Had the "journal" been real, at least some of it would've been shown to us. Even if a journal contains some classified material, it would also contain plenty of innocuous material. Had this been a real find, Marcel III would've been happy to reveal parts of it, to prove the handwriting is his grandfather's, and the paper and typewriter (if used) date from the proper time. One can't help but suspect that nothing has been shown precisely because no fake documentation would survive critical analysis  (hence wasn't created in the first place).
Randle denied the Marcel family is up to something nefarious. But over the years many seemingly credible people have made false statements, which serve the government's agenda....
There is a third issue. In July 2018, while commenting on the alleged discovery, I wrote that "If the journal mentions it (i.e. Roswell) at all, it may only do so in (encoded) language." *
Interestingly, in his July 13, 2019 update on the Marcel journal, Randle wrote that the (Marcel) family needs the help of a linguist with a working knowledge of cryptic writing. They thought that something might be encoded in the journals..."
I think those behind the "journal" got that idea from my comment of a year earlier. Apparently influenced by something written after it was found, the "journal" almost certainly doesn't exist.

Major Marcel in 1947.

*At the time I erred by using the term "codified" instead of "encoded" but I believe it was clear what I meant.

That report seems very suspicious. I won't assume that it is true. False reports about Roswell have been numerous.

Truer words were never spoken Neal. That may even be an understatement.

Thanks, Tim. It's likely that additional false reports will be made in the future.

Yes, absolutely; it seems they never stop.
Btw there's something odd about this particular hoax. Others were deliberately leaked to spread misinformation. But this is different. More than a year after announcement of the "discovery" NOTHING has been shown to the public. It is not a means of spreading disinfo because there isn't anything to see.
I wonder what the point of the hoax is.
Maybe after another year they'll announce they've broken the code used in the "journal" and Marcel wrote the government has no idea why the aliens have come and fears they may ultimately attack.

That sort of message would be consistent with other disinfo. There have been claims the government is totally ignorant of alien intentions.

As for the idea of aliens invading Earth, I think that it's highly unlikely. I've read the novel War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells and seen a movie based on it. However, I seriously doubt that aliens would make a full scale military invasion of this planet. I don't think that is among their intentions.

In view of the problems with the "journal," it's hard to believe KDR seems to think it's genuine, and hasn't criticized it at all. Given the critical rigor with which he has dealt with other cases, this is surprising, and suspicious. I suspect he was "informed" about the "journal" by a government handler, after Marcel III had been induced to cooperate (i.e. make up the "journal" and act like it's real)--by one means or other.
I note KDR's use of "update 1" in his blog title suggests more is coming. On the other hand his post questions the usefulness of the "journal." The need for an expert to decipher something suggests there is no clear, useful information; the best we can hope for is a hidden meaning in a lot of apparently irrelevant material. KDR's semi-dismissal of the "journal" may indicate we won't hear about it again. Whatever the purpose of the hoax, it may have been attained already, or the effort just abandoned.

The hoax must have had some purpose, but I don't know what it was. Some people might argue that it was simply to stir up a sensation. It seems that nothing further will be brought up about it, at least not in the foreseeable future.

There is another possibility: KDR or Marcel III will claim that analysis of the "journal" ("by an expert who wishes to remain anonymous") reveals Marcel wrote that the government has no idea why ETs have come (common disinfo). But soon after that, to quiet UFOlogists who demand to see the "journal," there will be another announcement that government agents confiscated it(!!).

I seem to have overlooked an "Update 2" last July, in which KDR concluded the journal might be just another dead end. But we may not have heard the last of this.

You're right; it remains to be seen whether the matter will be dropped. If word got to tabloids, they would certainly be publishing articles with all sorts of wild ideas.

UPDATE: KDR finally has (or had) a new post on this subject. He says the journal covers the years from 1946 to 1948/ '49, contains quotes from books and movies but nothing about the Roswell case. Although some of the journal is in French there is no evidence anything is in code.
It now appears the purpose of the "journal" was to cast doubt on Roswell by making it appear Marcel considered it unworthy of mention. Presumably it was just an embarrassing mistake involving a balloon and he'd prefer to forget about it...But in an (attempted) comment, I pointed out that the "journal" still hasn't been revealed. People seem blinded to reality. Had the journal been real at least some of it would've been shown publicly by now--years after its alleged discovery.
Soon after I submitted my comment the post disappeared...

That journal seems to be very fraudulent.

I'm not sure it even exists and don't see why other people assume it does even though we've never seen any of it.

UPDATE: It now appears that the handwriting in the journal is not that of Jesse Marcel, so he didn't write it.
